Who won 1965 war Quora?

The War of 1965 between India and Pakistan began on October 3rd 1965. The war came to an end in February 1966 following an agreement to sign the Instrument of Surrender by both parties.

India as well as Pakistan agreed to sign the Agreement of Surrender at Jadwala Ghat near Rawalpindi on the 26th of February in 1966.

India has therefore renounced all claims to territory that was taken during the war. This was an important achievement for India since it had been fighting for a long time to win back the territories. It also marked that the war was over during the conflict.

The war began when Indian soldiers crossed across into Pakistani territory. Line of Control into Pakistani territory. The intention was to wipe out Pakistani forces that had established an Indian-held guerrilla force. territory (the invasion triggered the War of 1965). But instead of attacking Indian troops in India, Pakistani forces attacked Indian troops in the outside of India (the incident was the trigger for the conflict). In the end, both nations waged a costly and bloody battle over territory they didn't possess (in fact they only fought over a small portion of land because they had executed an Instrument of Surrender at Jadwala Ghat).

Pakistan was the winner in this battle. The reason for its success was its military strength (specifically their Womens Army). It also came out victorious due to the resources available. At one point in the conflict (in the month of January, 1966) there were 20 million soldiers fighting on both sides, which is nearly five times as many than there were in El Alamein during World War II. The conflict also cost India the most and it lost nearly 3000 soldiers who were killed during combat, plus more than 4000 wounded during battle as per official figures.

In both cases, India and Pakistan were also afflicted by an inability to see the future from their sides Both nations believed that their militaries were comparable and neither of them would have to fight as long for territory it didn't own; neither could have imagined that their enemies would inflict such devastating losses to each other and drain their resources thoroughly. On both sides were challenging reality in politics, such as although many desired peace, others were seeking revenge, which contributed to the lack of preparation both sides. In the end, even though both sides were aware that they were losing the war, they failed to change their goals or plan in a way that would have helped; they were fighting for control of territories neither of them wanted (the two nations either disliked one another or were averse to each other for being neighbors
